Tried and True Overnight Zit Remedy

1.  Toothpaste

Certain ingredients in toothpaste, like hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and menthol, effectively dries out zits. Use the white paste version instead of the gel. Due to the risk of peeling and red irritation, test the toothpaste on a small patch of skin first prior to applying to your zits. If you have sensitive skin, remove the toothpaste from your zits after 15 minutes to reduce the risk of over-drying.

2.  Manuka Honey and Oatmeal

Gentle enough for sensitive skin yet strong enough to reduce redness and inflammation of zits, Manuka honey mixed with finely ground oatmeal creates a facial paste that can reduce the inflammation of zits within 15 – 20 minutes. You may also opt to add 1 – 2 drops of tea tree oil to the honey and oatmeal mask.

3. IceUse Ice to Reduce Zit Inflammation

Apply a cloth-wrapped ice cube or crushed ice to your zits for 20 – 30 seconds. Alternatively you may apply the ice cube directly to the zit for a few seconds until the area feels numb. Repeat this remedy 3 – 4 times within an hour but remove the ice as soon as the area feels numb to prevent frost bite.

Other Tips on How to Get Rid of Zits Overnight

1. It may be a natural habit to touch your face, especially if you have zits. Keeping your hands away from your face reduces the amount of dirt and bacteria on your skin which can clog your pores.

2. Change your pillow case frequently since it touches your face and is a source of potential dirt and bacteria.

3. Control stress since it can exacerbate zits. Whether your facing a big event or handling your day-to-day affairs, life can be very stressful. Take 5 minutes to reduce your stress. Meditation, slow/deep breaths, 5-minute yoga techniques, eat small, nutritious snacks, or adjust your posture to avoid stooping or slumping are simple, quick ways to reduce stress within a few minutes.

An overnight zit remedy is not a long-term solution to combating zits but being able to reduce and eliminate last minute zits that pop up at the most inopportune times will help you to face your big event with greater confidence.
